‘Kashmir: Cultural Crossroads and History’ | Conference at Rawalpindi Arts Council

A Kashmir conference under the patronage of Jammu and Kashmir Students Organization, International Islamic University was held at Rawalpindi Arts Council. Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani was the keynote speaker in the panel of discussion titled ‘Kashmir: Cultural Crossroads and History’.

The panel included Abdul Baseet Tajwar, a poet from Muzafarabad, AJK. The conference was chaired by Mr. Ahsan. Dr. Mujahid Gilani discussed the history of state of Jammu and Kashmir that spans over thousands of years with rulers from different dynasties ultimately landing under the rule of Muslim conquerors. These dynasties promoted the religion Islam in the state of J&K. The special and unique kinds of clothing, cuisines and way of living of Kashmiri people defined their culture. The rich cultural heritage of Kashmir was portrayed in enlightening discussions by all the speakers.

The Q&A session at the end comprised mostly of questions mostly related to the relationship of Kashmir with Pakistan in terms of religion and culture which were answered comprehensively by the speakers.
