PICSS organized “Hamara Kashmir Hamara Pakistan” Conference

Rawalakot (26 May 2022): An one day youth conference was held at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, organized by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICCS).

Former Prime Minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, Chairman Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies Major General (retd) Muhammad Saad Khattak, Kashmir Youth Alliance’s President Dr. Mujahid Gilani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Altaf Ahmed Bhatt, Leading Analyst Irshad Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Basic and applied Sciences University of Poonch Dr. Abdul Rauf, Managing Director Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies Abdullah Khan, Director Research PICSS Gul Dad Khan, Registrar University of Poonch Dr. Adnan Idrees, Controller University of Poonch Prof. Imtiaz Hussain and others addressed the conference. 

The event was designed to apprise the Pakistani students about the concept of Pakistaniyat, accordingly titled ‘Hamara Kashmir Hamara Pakistan’. Hurriyat Leader Altaf Ahmad Bhat also graced the event with his words of prudence and insight. Among the other themes discussed, one was entrepreneurship.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university lent his presence to the session with some profound remarks. A panel discussion was arranged wherein the current policies of Pakistan regarding Kashmir were the topic of discourse and students had an enthusiastic interaction followed by 30 to 45 minutes of a Q&A session.

While addressing conference speakers said India was committed to ending Kashmir’s internationally recognized status.  Many legal and political steps have been taken for this purpose but the rulers of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir have not been able to take any far-reaching steps in response.  Making or granting province status is not acceptable for AJK or GB is not acceptable. 

The colloquium ended on a high note with the gist being that the Kashmiris’ foremost and basic demand is the right of self determination and freedom from the Indian hegemony. The students and other participants of the event reaffirmed with assertion that by the will of Allah, the struggle for freedom of Kashmir shall continue and Azad Kashmir will be made a base camp for this struggle.
