A seminar titled ‘Kashmir: A Case Study of Denied Self Determination and Regional Stability’ was held at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. The seminar was attended by the faculty of AWKU, Muzammil Ayub Thakur, Shaista Safi and President KYA Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani.

In his address, Dr. Gilani asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have not been given the right for self determination for the past 76 years, however, they have not yielded and they have not been subjugated rather they have stood up against the hegemony of Indian occupation and the right for self determination. Till now, the world remembers the Kashmir issue as a conflict frozen in time because of the sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In his address, he urged the students to uphold the tradition and sacrifices that their elders of particularly NWFP have made in 1947 and ’48 for the people of Jammu and Kashmir that have resulted in the liberation of a part that is today known as Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The event was organized by the Youth Foundation for Kashmir in collaboration with the university. At the end of the seminar, Zaman Bajwa, Executive Director YFK, extended thanks to all the participants.
