Seminar at Bahria University | Commemoration of 27th October 1947, Black Day in J&K

A seminar was held at Bahria University on 24th October 2024 commemorating the black day in the history of state of Jammu and Kashmir when the Indian forces illegally landed on the Srinagar Airport and declared the occupation of the state.

Speakers included the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences Dr. Adam Saud and Dr. Umar. Guest speakers included Executive Director YFK Zaman Bajwa, Mr Altaf Wani, Sardar Nabila Irshad and President Kashmir Youth Alliance Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani.

Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani touched the medical aspect of the situation in IIOJK where the violations of health rights have become a norm. In his presentation and interaction with the students, Dr. Gilani enumerated various factors that have been involved as far as the Kashmiris living in the IIOJK are concerned. He shed light on the different effects of torture, the denial of health rights and the bio-terrorism against the Hurriyat leaders who represented true aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Other speakers discussed the historical aspect of 27th of October 1947 and how its manifestations have continued even after this date since Kashmiris have seen black days every single day after the occupation. Sardar Nabila Irshad discussed the foundation day of AJK which is the 24th of october and mentioned the sacrifices made by the people of AJK for the independence of this region from Indian clutches.

The session ended with an interactive session and Q&A with the students.
