A webinar was conducted by COPAIR on Feb 3, 2023 titled “Human Rights Violations and Regional Peace and Stability: What should be the Solution of Kashmir Issue?” The notable speakers included Major Gen. Ijaz Ahmed Awan, Mr Raza Ahmed Rumi, Amna Malik and Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani.

President KYA Dr Mujahid Gilani shed light on the gross human rights violations being carried out by the Indian authorities in the IIOJK in a colonial fashion. The abrogation of article 370 has been followed by influx of non-Kashmiris into the valley in droves with laws being put in place for their settlement. House snatching on account of fabricated encroachment cases is a systemic design to rob the Kashmiri natives of their land. The people of Kashmir are paying for the freedom struggle with their lives while the freedom leaders are being pursued with one concocted case after another. The colonizer is pursuing its genocidal agenda unabated, either in the name of infamous laws or by extrajudicial killings.

He also described how the Indian occupier is cunningly trying to create a soft image among the masses by faking a normalcy in the form of entertainment, employment and so called empowerment programs.

Dr Mujahid Gilani stirred the collective conscience of the audience by suggesting points of action in response to India’s demographic terrorism. He said that peace in the region is impossible without the Kashmir issue being resolved. The occupier needs to be looked into the eye with global boycott, sanctions and divestment. He emphasized that the Kashmiri freedom struggle should be kept alive in discussion with each of its chapters being given its due attention.
