Dr. Arif Alvi said India was on the path to self-destruction with its Hindutva policy targeting all minorities as it was vainly planning to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination with barbaric steps.
On 5th January 2022, International Day of Self Determination, Kashmir Youth Alliance in collaboration with Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir organized launching ceremony of a book “Bang” authored by Dr Qasim Faktoo, who has been serving life imprisonment till death in an Indian Jail.
The book launching ceremony was held at President House Islamabad and was presided over by President Islamic Republic of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi. Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi, Son of Dr Qasim Faktoo & Asiya Andrabi Ahmed bin Qasim, President Kashmir Youth Alliance Dr Syed Mujahid Gilani, and Renowned Current Affairs Anchor Imran Riaz Khan also addressed the gathering.
In his address President Dr. Arif Alvi said India was on the path to self-destruction with its Hindutva policy targeting all minorities as it was vainly planning to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination with barbaric steps.
He said the unending oppression coupled with atrocities and human rights violations committed against the innocent Kashmiris in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and other minorities in India, were resulting in a fire that would eventually engulf India and dawn into the freedom of the Kashmiri people.
The president regretted that the world was driven through its priorities and vested interests like trade and economy, and was neglecting humanity. He also reiterated that Pakistan being a morality-based country would continue extending its moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi said “The sacrifices of Kashmiri leaders like Dr. Qasim would ultimately result in the freedom of the IIOJK from the Indian occupation. He also stressed further raising the IIOJK issue at the global fora through collective efforts.” He urged the world community to take notice of the travesty of justice being committed by Indian forces against the political prisoners of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Dr Qasim Faktoo’s son Ahmed bin Qasim said Dr. Faktoo’s book ‘Baang’ provides an insight into his sufferings and life-long struggle against the Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. “My father was arrested in 1993 at the Srinagar Airport, along with my mother and older brother, Muhammad, who was a few months old at the time. He spent six months in prison, making him the youngest political prisoner of the Kashmir conflict.” he added. President Kashmir Youth Alliance Dr. Syed Mujahid Gilani along with Ahmed bin Qasim Presented “Baang” to President Arif Alvi. Secretary-General Kashmir Youth Alliance Razi Tahir and Vice President Palwasha Saeed were moderators of this event.
